As many of you know, the Mature Content filter was changed pretty drastically to an 18 and older system. This was necessitated by abuse of the system and was put in place as a stop gap measure while we gathered in depth opinion from the community as to what they desired to see in place, and from the artists who post such work.
If you would like to see the course of those events please check out my last several journals as they document this as well as other policy related discussions.
That said, we have made some pretty significant changes to the filtering system to allow for the most flexibility to everyone involved, from viewer to artist. One of the biggest issues we faced was people simply not marking their work if it was mature content or not, and this was mainly due to that option being buried at the bottom of the submission process. To balance that we have now made checking yes or no to Mature Content mandatory to complete your submission. T

We've taken a close look at how our community interacts and made improvements to make new art even easier to discover. Quick-loading thumbnails and a faster, more reliable search are just a couple of ways we've made browsing an even more enjoyable experience.

Our Footer is now a destination in itself! Offering direct access to News, Polls, and other community-specific features, this robust feature is extremely functional and also fun to use. You can also flip through your Channels, giving you a great at-a-glance view of your favorite types of art.

In many cultures, Spring is traditionally a time which brings a period of time where you take time out to give your house a good cleaning, get rid of any unwanted items which have been gathering dust for a while, and generally put everything back in it's right place.
I always hear that people consider deviantART to be their home -- I know I do -- so why not apply this thought to our devious home too?
The Big Spring Clean project is aimed at doing just that very thing. Making sure that our galleries are spick and span, and that everything is in it's right place. Miscategorised (miscats) deviations are about to feel a sweeping of brushes from all sides, and we'd like you get your sleeves rolled up to help out.

Happy New Year, deviantART!  Another year winds down at deviantART and what a year it has been. The growth of the site has been nothing short of phenomenal. With 6 million deviants and nearly 50 million deviations, itís safe to say the title for World's Largest Art Community is in all of our hands.

The issue of missing images on the devWatch has been identified and will be fixed soon. The current ETA is 6 hours as of this news post. This bug affected roughly one quarter of deviants and symptoms would be, when you click your devWatch tab all images seemingly disappear and nothing new is being updated. This will be restored shortly and we apologize for  the confusion.

PNG images that are transparent aren't showing up as transparent, but with a background behind them.

Come on people. They are doing the best they can! >_< Give them time to fix the kinks! It's hard to make a big website like this without having problems in a big change....especially browser based problems.

my center will not allow me to get rid of, or have "read" my messeges. it will allow me to have "read" the new submitions but not the journals

Can you now fix the hideous mess that you're putting out in internet explorer 7 and Opera? I mean, this is ridiculous...I wanted to reply to reply to a comment here but noooo, all the "reply" buttons are about 1000px down from the actual comments. This is not a minority browser we're talking about, this is the browser that's going to be shipped with every copy of Windows Vista.
