In many cultures, Spring is traditionally a time which brings a period of time where you take time out to give your house a good cleaning, get rid of any unwanted items which have been gathering dust for a while, and generally put everything back in it's right place.
I always hear that people consider deviantART to be their home -- I know I do -- so why not apply this thought to our devious home too?
The Big Spring Clean project is aimed at doing just that very thing. Making sure that our galleries are spick and span, and that everything is in it's right place. Miscategorised (miscats) deviations are about to feel a sweeping of brushes from all sides, and we'd like you get your sleeves rolled up to help out.

Today, after lolly and myself spent hours working through the mayhem newly coined 'disasterpiece theatre', I created a chatroom called #FantasticallyFractal to open a forum for the fractal artists to work with us to find a solution to the issue at hand.
To that end, we have come up with the following which we see as a good beginning to nurturing an art genre I not only have great respect for, but have currently hanging on my walls.

Weekend to End Breast CancerIntroduction
For the past 5 years our very own $Moonbeam13 has been involved in supporting and raising money for The Weekend To End Breast Cancer event in Toronto.

She has done this in a fairly quiet and discreet way so we felt it was time to shed a bit more light on what exactly she does for this great cause.

To give a bit of background, in the past 4 years this organization has raised over 60 million dollars in donations and through this has made some landmark strides in advancing the research on breast cancer, which claims the lives of close to 50,000 women a year and about a quarter million women diagnosed per year.

I'd like to start by explaining that here at deviantART we do take issues of stalking, harassment and abuse very seriously.
However, having stated that I also need to point out that not everything which is reported to staff as "harassment" is actually considered severe enough for us to do something about it.
In previous years staff would respond to all sorts of complaints concerning harassment, insults, and other abuses regardless of the severity; however as the site grew larger and the community more diverse this became counter-productive and time consuming as the issues which were reported to us gradually became more and more minor and in some cases downright ridiculously petty.
At this point in deviantART history, early in 2006, we introduced the tools for hiding comments and blocking other users from interacting on your personal account pages. It was also at this time

If you believe you are being harassed there are a few steps which you need to take prior to trying to acquire help, these steps will make the process of getting help a faster and hopefully more satisfying process.
The first step before seeking help is to actually, objectively look at the situation and ask yourself if you are truly being harassed or if you are merely being annoyed or bothered..

CEA Update 20090120: Moderation System ChangesThose who have been with us throughout 2008 and longer and who regularly follow the news and site changes should remember that during the early months of 2008 the system which the community uses to report cases of theft, unacceptable content and other issues involving deviations underwent a complete overhaul and rebuild in order better serve the needs of both the community and the staff.
We like to believe that our reporting system here at deviantART represents one of the best and easiest to use systems available to an artistic community and we are proud to see that the deviantART community demonstrates such awareness for artists rights that it is used with great frequency to report cases of copyright infringement, unauthorized use and just plain old blatant theft.

deviantART and Global Giving have joined together to make a Valentine's Day where you can not only give art to those who you love, but you can also give support to PH15, a photography project based in Argentina that encourages social inclusion by educating, inspiring and empowering young people through art.
