"Psst…hey you, yeah you, what are you working on? Wow, that looks pretty cool! Do you do this stuff for a living? No? Wow, why not? You seem pretty good at it! No way, seriously? Well, I guess I can see why someone would want to hire a person with a creative arts education instead of someone without one, but what do you do if you have a full time job or if you don't live anywhere near an art school? It seems like you're in a tough situation. Oh well, good luck to you and keep at it!"

Does this scenario seem all too familiar? Worked your fingers to the bone on your portfolio, get to that job interview and have it handed to the person who came after you who had a degree?

Or are you someone who wants to get a degree but you have other work and family commitments or maybe live in a remote area and can't commute to a school? Or maybe, just maybe you are someone who has a passion for art, for design, but just don't really know where to go or what to do with it? You have the desire but you just don't know what step to take next on the road to living your creative dream!

Well, today is your lucky day! With this “Live Your Creative Passion” Scholarship Competition sponsored by The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh you get the chance to get your foot in the door, to refine those skills, to earn that degree that means the difference between doing what you want instead of taking what you get.

The Art Institute Online would like to offer you a chance to do all that and more, which is why we are pleased to bring you the first of many events we will be doing with The Art Institute Online. To kick things off properly, they are offering you an opportunity to enter to win a $10,000 scholarship to attend one of their 14 online creative arts programs!

Live Your Creative Passion Scholarship Competition

So, what do I do and where do I go? Well, that is easy enough to explain. You go check out the Scholarship Competition Details over at The Art Institute Online and follow the simple submission guidelines. *Please note this scholarship competition is open to US Citizens only.*

Then you sit down with your paint, your sketchbook, your computer, whatever it is you do, and you let your imagination and skill do the rest and you let the world know what your dream job would be, what you would do if you could do whatever you wanted. Express yourself as yourself!

I just wanted to thank Deviant Art for posting this. This is the first time AI has done this sort of competition, and I decided to try. I got the call today telling me I had won. Without Deviant, I would have never known. Thanks for helping someone make their dreams come true. I'm speechless.

as usual... US citizens only. funny how an on-line college would require specific citizenship.. not like we don't have computers up here in Canada... or anywhere else for that matter. (feels descriminatory???)

Um, ok this is gonna sound really weird, but I'm a writer, and I'm interested in this contest.
The problem is that they only accept JPEG files, not text files.
Does that mean I'm ineligible?

Did it occur to anyone that often times restrictions on who is eligible for a contest is not in the control of the contest creator? Countries, states, and even cities have laws about what kind of contests can be participated in by their residents. Believe it or not, this is in an attempt to protect the citizens from poorly designed contests or contests which are in fact designed to take advantage of its participants.

Even if it is not the law, companies and schools will often be restricted due to tax considerations.

If you do not like the terms of the contest, contact the sponsor and ask (politely) why you are excluded. They may have an intelligent answer for you. Posting nasty comments on a website isn't going to change contest laws, tax laws or the contest's restrictions.

Yes it was. And still is for me, unfortunately. Because I've already paid for several months, and it would be a waste of money to stay in. But my mother will not let me drop out. So she's going to make it an even bigger waste of money.

All you non US citizens, don't be too bummed. Like other people have said, it's an okay school...but only good for some majors, and it's only for the online school, which has even further limitations. It'd be nice to have the money, but it's not worth getting pissy over either.

I started Ai in Aug 06. Only reason cuz I won a $20k scholarship to go, if not, I wouldn't have. Its way overpriced and way too artsy, not much "real life"scenario projects for ppl with no experience. (I'm still on the fence about it, its not too bad)

Nontheless, its a great opportunity, if one of you deviants can do it, its free/cost u nothing and ultimately, its a reputable university.

Go for it!
