This is a remake of one I made 4 years ago, called The Relationship of Command 2 I always felt it could use a little more oomph. I initially liked the smooth "designerly" quality but, and this is me about to go into some odd political views, after the elections themselves it seemed too clean to me. So this is the dirty version, which for a lot of reasons I ramble on about below needed to be done.

The election in 2004 was a filthy little mess and a little shit eating grin monkey faced asshole ended up in office for another four years.

And this year it's just muddier and dirtier and messier than ever. Early on it was some bizarre race to see whether America was more comfortable with a whiny shrew freakshow with daggers for eyes representing "women" or some oddly laid back dude who I still cannot connect to any particular issue aside from the horrific smear campaigns initiated by his competition trying to make him come off as everything from a racist to a terrorist in the role of the "black guy".

Then there's McCain. If I am clueless as to what Obama stands for, then McCain is complete tabula rasa to me. All I know is he is like, 100 years old.

So early on it was basically a run for;

First Woman President
First Black President
First uhhh super Elderly President?

Well, as it panned out, Elderly and Black beat out Woman, although not so sure Hillary is really a woman anymore anyway. She seems not even to be particularly human, especially with her temper tantrums and baffling attitude that the Democratic nomination and thus the presidency should have just been a given for her.

And then there's this whole super delegate nonsense, and votes being influenced by favoritism, payoff, donations, secret goat slaughtering in shady backrooms over hastily scrawled pentagrams and who knows what else.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I am even going to vote this year at all. I'm not sure my vote even means anything. I really am not sure if it makes any difference at all who is in the white house or what party they are from. Those lines got blurred a long time ago and the two have become pretty interchangeable. And the fact that there is still no viable third, fourth, twelfth parties in what is supposed to be an open democracy, well, that speaks volumes without any need for my uninformed commentary.

I honestly don't mean to come off as apathetic. I just feel there's an equally good argument for showing dissatisfaction by not voting as there is by showing up in record numbers. A record low illustrates a problem of this sort just as well as a record high, perhaps evben moreso.

And then it comes down to simple facts. And the fact is, I have noticed no personal discernible loss or gain of any inherent freedoms with Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr, or Reagan in office in my lifetime.

I still say what I want, do what I want, go where I want. draw what I want, eat what I want, drink what I want and most importantly think what I want.

I don't hate America, not by any means. I do kind of hate the fact though, that the people who are supposed to be our figure heads and representatives to the rest of the world of what is supposed to be all that is America are not really decided by me or my fellow Americans anymore, and that they make us look bad to the rest of the world. But hey, I think the wolrd has a built in self correction ability tht is inherent in all of nature, so if it gets too messed up things have a way or righting themselves at the end of the day.

And yeah, buy the print. It will definitely mean you give a shit ;)

Oomph accomplished-- takes a smart, sharp design and restages it as raging, broken graffiti-- regardless of how disillusioned (or not) one is with recent politics, the image resonates loudly and hauntingly...

I'm thinking you either watched the South Park episode on voting too much or not enough...

Never saw it actually. I barely ever watch South Park. The last one I saw was the warcraft episode :o

All I know is McCain keeps saying he was a "prisoner of war" and as if that makes him a real celebrity, he acts like that's more of a presidential pro characteristic than where Barrack is coming from, having been in jail long ago.

Basically if you understand what all the crap is going on in the world these days, you can just vote off what is best for right now. Though that is even hard itself because both platforms can sometimes be the ven diagram that link together in some pros and cons. Makes it hard.

Thankfully I'm not old enough to vote. ;) So I can just simply think about these things.

All in all, I do like the colours here. Good job.

Lolly - you have voiced what I've said for decades (yes I'm that damn old) - that the American government is no longer for, by, or of the people.
